QUESTION: Other vendors advertise lower prices, should I be concerned?
ANSWER: Typically in this industry "you get what you pay for". If the price is too low, such concern is justified. WE ARE AWARE THAT unscupulous vendors sell non-laminated vinyl products for "long term applications", which is wrong. We only offer that option for short term applications. Also, our printing process is very special: it is thermo-printing (vinyl material is heated during the printing process, to open its pores to allow the ink to penetrate deep). We use ECO-SOLVENT inks (which are are good balance between longevity and caring for the environment). Some vendors use Latex printers, and the products are not as durable as ours, because the inks don't 'eat into the plastic' like the solvent-based ones, this is a known fact in our industry.
QUESTION: Can I apply the sticker(s) / decals (s) myself?
ANSWER: Yes!
QUESTION: Does the type and condition of the receiving surface influence the installation, or affects durability?
ANSWER:
1)The type of surface greatly influences the strength with which the product adheres to it:
- The moro rough / porous the surface, the less it will stick to it.
- Examples: Our 'regular' stickers adhere good on glass, painted body section of a vehicle. They will not be suitable for certain plastics surfaces (matte type), or for floors or concrete. For the latter applications, we suggest going with our 'high-tack' products.
2)The condition of the surface is also a huge influencing factor in the longevity of the bond beween the vinyl and respective surface:
- Example: Workers in the oil and gas asked us if we have a "sticker product that can stick to greasy pipes". Such product does not exist, unfortunately, and cutting corners has proved never to be be a good approach: receiving surface MUST be thoroughly degreased (use water with detergent), then cleaned (use water with alcohol 70/30 min. proportion, test the surface first, do not rub hard to remove paint, etc.), then wiped dry. ONLY AFTER THESE THREE STEPS, EXECUTED PROPERLY, PROCEED TO PEEL OFF THE BACKING AND INSTALL THE STICKER OR DECAL
- For non-flat surfaces (curved, with waives, bends, indentations, etc), use a heat gun to 'work the vinyl' onto them. The installtion process is challenging, but there are many YouTube videos available (or hire a professional vinyl installer).
QUESTION: Can exposure to a lot of sun be an issue?
- Yes. UV rays are detrimental to ink colour pigments, and will cause the images, colours to fade in time.
- Our 'premium' produts have a clear protective overlamination applied on top of the printed surface, thus making it a second surface. The ovelaminate film products we use have UV inhibitor in them, so the life expectancy is 3-5 times longer for any decals or stickers that have over-lamination layer (i.e. our 'premium' product).
